Spring Picnic at Yoyogi Park

yoyogi park

This park is a great place for jogging, cycling, picnicking and some other activities!
What to Do

Yoyogi park is one of Tokyo's largest city parks, featuring wide lawns, ponds and forested areas. This park is a great place for jogging, cycling, picnicking and some other activities. This park has relatively few cherry trees compared to other sites in Tokyo which makes for a nice cherry blossom viewing spot in spring. It's known for ginko tree forest which turns intensely golden in autumn.

Anyway, this park has no entrance fee and open for all year around. Yoyogi park is worth exploring - areas to the north and west, past the fountain pond and central field. There's cycling area in northwest of the central fiels that rents bikes, including tandems, for just hundred yen. After cycling around, I stop and looking for a place for picnic.

If you don't fell like playing or doing any sports, you can just stroll around, watch out for dance groups and musicians pacticing, soak up the atmosphere and relax on the grass. There are street entertaiment can be found right in front of Harajuku Gate, at the eastern end of the park. But myself, I just choose to picnic with my beloved one while enjoy the view and the food.

How to Get There

It's spring time and timeto visit Japan. This time, I spend my spring vacation in Tokyo to enjoy the Cherry Blossoms. I choose to spend it in Yoyogi Park which located at 2-1 Yoyogikamizonocho, Shibuya, Tokyo. You can take JR Line to Harajuku or Yoyogi Station and Tomyo Metro to Meiji-jingumae Station. This park only 5 minutes walk from Harajuku Station.
